How to apply helmet decals

Clean helmet surface to remove any dirt or oil/grease residue.

Cut away some of the extra area around decal, making sure to leave enough to hold during application.

Hold decal over helmet. If it lays mostly flat you can apply as directed in the instructions that came with your decal. Be aware that if the helmet is matte or textured you will need to leave the application tape on for longer (see here for more information)

If the decal bubbles or wrinkles when you hold it against the helmet, follow steps below.

Turn decal over and peel off backing paper. (be careful not to touch the back of the decal itself)

Cut backing paper in half and reapply to decal as shown.

For CYAN decal you can leave either or both the Y and Y exposed for this step.

Make small relief cuts in the top and bottom of the decal. Don’t cut all the way through, just cut about 1-2cm in from the edge.

Apply the center exposed part of the decal to your helmet making sure it is properly aligned.

Peel off one side of the backing paper and apply one letter at a time, using your hands to smooth the decal onto the helmet. It’s ok if the tape wrinkles but you want to make sure the letters are flat against the surface.

Continue with each letter on one side, and then repeat the process with the other half of the decal.

Use a squeegee or credit card/license to apply pressure to the decal so it sticks to the helmet. Slowly remove the application tape. If any part of the decal tries to peel off with the tape lay it flat again and go over it again with the credit card/license, using more pressure.
